XIV BIAU Brings "Cuidar la vida" to Brasilia, November 3–6, 2026
The fourteenth Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura y Urbanismo (BIAU) will take place in Brasilia from November 3 to 6, 2026, under the theme "Cuidar la vida." Since its inception in 1998, the event has been organized by the Spanish Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda (MIVAU), with the last edition held in Lima, Peru, in 2024. This year's focus will revolve around water, vegetation, housing, and communities, featuring debates, lectures, exhibitions, and cultural events at multiple locations. Accreditation opens on November 3, leading to the inauguration and awards for Gonçalo Byrne, Erminia Maricato, and Frederick Cooper Llosa, alongside a concert. On September 22, 2026, 46 finalist proposals were revealed from a total of 174 submissions, with curatorial input from Nuno Sampaio and others, in collaboration with CSCAE and Fundación Arquia.
