Xie Nanxing's 'Fugitive Figuration' at Galerie Urs Meile

Xie Nanxing: Fugitive Figuration. Paintings 1994–2026 is a solo exhibition curated by Clémentine Deliss at Galerie Urs Meile's Zurich Ankerstrasse location. The show commenced on Friday, June 12, and will be available for viewing until August 29, 2026. Featuring nine paintings from six distinct series, this exhibition spans over thirty years of Xie Nanxing's artistic journey, showcasing works from the 1990s to those completed in 2026. For the first time, these pieces collectively reassess the artist's unique role in both contemporary Chinese and global painting. Central to the exhibition is the notion of figuration as fluid, elusive, and psychologically complex, with Xie's works presenting scenes that linger between memory, performance, dreams, and discomfort, often revealing figures that are only partially visible.
