Xiaomi 18 Fold Debuts with Leica Triple Camera and 7.58-Inch Display

Xiaomi has officially unveiled its first wide foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, following a teaser last week. The device features a 5.38-inch cover display and a 7.58-inch 120Hz inner AMOLED display, both adopting a 2:1 aspect ratio similar to A4 paper. Notably, it is the first foldable to incorporate Xiaomi's HyperRGB panels on both displays, offering 4,000-nit peak brightness and 1-120Hz variable refresh rates. The camera system is a highlight, with a 200-megapixel Leica triple-camera setup including a main camera with a Samsung ISOCELL HP5 sensor supporting native HDR and lossless zoom, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom (80mm equivalent) and 7x lossless zoom (160mm equivalent), and a 50-megapixel ultrawide. Front-facing 16-megapixel selfie cameras are present on both displays. The phone measures 117.8 x 83.6mm when folded (10.68mm thick) and unfolds to a 219-gram device with a 5.02mm thickness. Pricing starts at 10,999 yuan (about $1,640) in China, with color options including black, white, red, and a pink ceramic version. Global availability is yet to be announced. The launch comes a day before Apple's expected unveiling of its first foldable iPhone on September 9, with analysts noting similarities in design. Xiaomi's approach to cameras in a foldable is seen as a positive step, addressing a common weakness in the category.
