XeniArtSpace in Limassol Stages CHANNELLED, Pairing Cypriot Women Artists with 20th-Century Heavyweights

exhibition · 2026-09-22

At the Trilogy Plaza in Limassol, Cyprus, three oversized letters — XAS — mark the entrance to XeniArtSpace, a private foundation whose exhibitions are drawn from founder Xenia Kulbachevskaya's personal collection. Space 1 opened in 2024 and the larger Space 2 in 2025, inaugurated by Cyprus' first lady Philippa Karsera. In Space 1, the group show CHANNELLED: Women Artists of the Island brings together women based in Cyprus, among them Elizabeth Nenarokov, whose Magic Forest series of ceramics and patinated bronze floor sculptures appeared in the foundation's EGGspression open call, alongside Andrea Charalambides' golden glass globes, figurative paintings by Carolina Souss and Thekla Papadopoulou's layered abstract surfaces. Space 2 hosts CHANNELLED: Women in Art Across Centuries until March 2027, with 16 women artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, none of the works for sale: Leonor Fini, Lynne Drexler, Olga de Amaral and three pieces by Tracey Emin, plus Teresa Solar Abboud's Tunnel Boring Machine, Emily Kraus' Nest Time 1, a woven work by Elise Peroi, abstractions by Drexler, Sabine Moritz and Maro Gorky, and monochrome works by Emin, Fini and Hayv Kahraman. Upstairs, Inka Essenhigh, Georg Wilson and Jess Allen hang together. Kulbachevskaya curated with London-based Maria Stocker.
