WTTC Launches Online Vote for New Seven Wonders of the World

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has initiated a global online vote to select the Seven Contemporary Wonders of the World, celebrating monuments and architecture built since 1801. The initiative aims to recognize structures that have significantly impacted travel, tourism, local communities, and economic development. Nominations are open until January 7, 2027, when the top 70 sites will be announced. A second voting round will narrow the list to 30 finalists by April 7, 2027, with the final seven wonders proclaimed on July 7, 2027. Criteria include contribution to tourism, economic impact, community value, destination development, and cultural/architectural significance. WTTC President Gloria Guevara emphasized that each generation leaves its mark, inviting global participation to highlight modern landmarks that continue to inspire. Examples cited include the Eiffel Tower and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao as models of transformative investment. The project underscores the strategic value of tourism infrastructure and public-private collaboration.
