World Architecture Day Highlights Housing Crisis; Le Corbusier Exhibition Opens at Villa Le Lac

architecture-design · 2026-10-08

World Architecture Day commenced with a message from the UIA and the United Nations, highlighting housing as a fundamental aspect of human dignity and advocating for the repurposing of existing buildings. Notable projects showcased included the U.S. Pavilion by Marlon Blackwell Architects, set to be reconstructed at Crystal Bridges Museum by late 2027, and TAELON7's Limbo Engawa, relocating to Art Omi's Sculpture Park. Ammodo Architecture Days are scheduled for November 9-10 in Amsterdam. Design Museum Gent has reopened, featuring a new wing designed by Carmody Groarke and ATAMA. Amman Design Week made its return with the theme "Accumulations." HENN introduced CarbonBudget, a digital CO2 calculation tool. The exhibition "Remettre les pendules à l'heure" will take place from June 26 to October 25, 2026, in Switzerland. In Miami, Snøhetta has begun construction on Sweetbird North, while Klinglmüller, HENN, and a-stud.io triumphed in a competition for the expansion of Sparkasse Oberösterreich's campus.
