Woody De Othello's 'coming forth by day' at PAMM

Woody De Othello's solo show, titled 'coming forth by day,' is currently on display at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM). This exhibition showcases new sculptures crafted from ceramic and wood, along with tiled wall pieces and an impressive bronze installation. The Miami native breathes life into everyday items such as mirrors, clocks, and telephones, reshaping them into anthropomorphic figures that twist and lean. His work is influenced by diasporic African spiritual traditions, particularly the nkisi concept—objects thought to possess intrinsic power. The title alludes to the ancient Egyptian Book of Coming Forth by Day, symbolizing themes of transformation and rebirth. Visitors can view the exhibition until 28 June 2026.
