Woodward Productions to Tour Little Shop of Horrors Across Australia in 2027
In 2027, Woodward Productions will embark on a three-city tour of Little Shop of Horrors after a successful run at the Cremorne Theatre in Queensland Performing Arts Centre, which sold out in January 2026. The tour will kick off at Hobart's Theatre Royal in April, proceed to Melbourne's Athenaeum Theatre in May, and wrap up at Wollongong's Illawarra Performing Arts Centre in July, with whispers of more cities to come. Founded by Alex Woodward in 2016, the company has staged over 20 productions, including The 39 Steps and Steel Magnolias, aiming to engage new audiences through 'gateway theatre.' The creative team features director Alister Smith and music supervisor David Young. Little Shop of Horrors, written by Howard Ashman with music by Alan Menken, debuted Off-Off-Broadway in 1982 and inspired a 1986 film. A waitlist for tickets is currently open, with public sales expected in early November.
