William Lakin Named BJP Ones to Watch 2025, Explores Conspiracy Theories in New Series

William Lakin, a photographer hailing from rural Bedfordshire, has been chosen for the British Journal of Photography's Ones to Watch 2025 group, with a nomination from Kalpesh Lathigra. He studied photography at Stevenage College and is currently working on a practice-based PhD at London College of Communication. His earlier series, 'Alternative Facts' (2015–2017), which analyzed London before and after Brexit, earned him the Paris Photo Carte Blanche Students prize in 2017. Lakin's subsequent project, 'Five Minutes After Birth', delves into UK masculinity through edited interviews, showcased at Boutographies, Format festivals, and in Arles in 2023. He was also a contender for the Mack First Book Award (2018) and Grand Prix Images Vevey (2021). His ongoing PhD work, 'Plastic Control', focuses on conspiracy theories, particularly using data related to Pizzagate.
