Wild Waters: Dams and Deltas After Modernity at Framer Framed

The exhibition 'Wild Waters: Dams and Deltas After Modernity' at Framer Framed in Amsterdam, curated by Àngels Miralda, runs in 2026 and features eleven artists exploring the politicization and extraction of water globally. Works include Suzette Bousema's 'Duckweed' (2023) on Dutch canal pollution, Giovanni Giaretta's 'Scores Floating in Debris' (2026) on Utrecht University's wave simulations, and Abdo Zin Eldin's 'Sakkoura' (2026) on the Aswan High Dam. Adelita Husni-Bey's 'Like a Flood – Composites' (2026) links Italian colonial engineering in Libya to the 2023 Wadi Derna dam collapse. Suat Öğüt's five works document the Ilısu Dam's submergence of Hasankeyf and the Tigris Basin. Jumana Emil Abboud's video uses Palestinian folktales. The show also includes Ewa Ciepielewska and Agnieszka Brzeżańska on Polish rivers, Ashfika Rahman on Bangladesh, Anna Moreno and Eunice Pais on Iberian deltas, and Morteza Soorani on Iran's Karun River. The exhibition questions whether water can still be called 'wild' under such intensive management.
