Wespi de Meuron Romeo Architects Transform Historic Brissago Home

Wespi de Meuron Romeo architects have completed the transformation of a historic house in Brissago Piodina, Switzerland, in 2023. The 310 m² residential project, curated by Hadir Al Koshta, addresses past interventions that compromised the building's architectural quality, such as an oversized terrace with three pillars and inappropriate plastering. The original character was largely lost on the two residential floors but remained discernible in the cellar and roof truss. The garden's distance from living spaces had prompted the previous terrace construction. The new design restores coherence and enhances the connection to the site's vineyard and views of Lake Maggiore and the mountains. Photographs by Giacomo Albo document the renovation.
