exhibition · 2026-09-25

This weekend sees major art openings across Europe and Australia. In Berlin, Fotografiska presents Lauren Greenfield's "Social Studies," a project for which she asked 30 Los Angeles teenagers for access to their phones, amassing over 2,000 hours of screen recordings. The exhibition, originally a five-part documentary on FX and Disney+, runs until January 12, 2027. In Düsseldorf, the Kunstpalast opens a Jörg Immendorff retrospective with 120 works, running until January 10, 2027. Immendorff, a Beuys student who died in 2007 at 61 from ALS, is celebrated as a key German postwar artist. In Fulda, the Villa FEW shows Franz Erhard Walther's drawings under the title "Dem Mond gewidmet" from September 27 to May 5, 2027, with an opening on September 26 at 5 PM. In Halle, the Kunststiftung Sachsen-Anhalt presents "Meine liebste Otte!" on textile artist Benita Koch-Otte until December 6. In Riehen, the Fondation Beyeler opens its expanded campus with three new buildings by Peter Zumthor, including the Wyss Museum, on September 26, featuring the collection exhibition "Constellations" until September 5, 2027. In Sydney, Ai Weiwei's "Mushrooms," a 40-meter installation of 500 cast-iron combat helmets on Tallawoladah Lawn, is on view until 2028.
