Week in Wildlife: Rescued Orangutans, Rare Andean Cat Sighting and a Fox at the Kia Oval
In West Kalimantan, Indonesia, six orangutans, comprising two pairs of mothers and their infants, were saved from wildfires that devastated their habitats and food supplies, putting them at risk of starvation and injury; they are currently under veterinary care. Meanwhile, in Argentina's La Payunia Reserve, an endangered Andean cat was spotted as part of ongoing habitat restoration efforts, with approximately 2,100 individuals left in the wild. A leopard seal, known to prey on emperor penguins, was found stranded in Viña del Mar, Chile. Additionally, a fox disrupted a cricket match between Surrey and Glamorgan in London.
