Wallflower Architecture + Design Completes Tree-Top House in Singapore

Wallflower Architecture + Design has completed a 1,890 m² family residence in Singapore, scheduled for 2025. The project, titled "Casa sobre los árboles" (House Above the Trees), is located on a hilltop at the edge of Singapore's Central Water Catchment Reserve, the island's largest natural landscape. The design team, led by Robin Tan and Yong Mien Huei, faced a dual challenge: the lower levels, where family life typically unfolds, were surrounded by neighboring houses that blocked much of the surrounding forest. Opening the house indiscriminately would expose the family to neighbors' views, while turning inward for privacy risked losing the exceptional landscape. The project team included design team members Soh Jia Tong, Shazila Noh, and Tan Shengyi; technical team member Sean Zheng; civil engineering by 3ES Consultancy; MEP engineering by ALLZ Consulting; landscape architecture by Salad Dressing and Nyee Phoe Flower Garden; interior design by Massoneong; general contracting by TD Furniture; and lighting engineering by Luxlight. Suppliers included Celsius Equipment, KStone, Luxlight, Moods Furnishings, Preciosa Lighting, and Reynaers Aluminium. Photography is by Finbarr Fallon. The project was curated by Miwa Negoro and submitted by the architecture team.
