Walker Street Market Opens in Lenox, Berkshires

Walker Street Market (WSM), a new design and interiors gallery led by former fashion designer Matthew Ames, opens this July in Lenox, Massachusetts. Housed in a historic building that once served as a general store and later Dee's Department Store, WSM showcases over 70 artists and designers working in wood, ceramics, glass, metal, and textile. Ames, who left the fashion industry in 2011 seeking a slower pace, aims to foster connections between communities, artists, and the stories behind handmade work. The gallery emphasizes craft and craftsmanship, drawing on the Berkshires' tradition of handmade design, including Shaker influences. The space features special pieces and permanent installations created collaboratively with artists, balancing historical rootedness with experimental approaches. Ames hopes visitors will appreciate intentional living and thoughtful consumption.
