Waechter Architecture's Trilogy House: A Modern Take on Portland Vernacular

Waechter Architecture, led by principal Ben Waechter, has completed the Trilogy House in Portland, Oregon, a residential project that reinterprets the city's traditional architectural style. The house, finished in 2024, spans 4,450 square feet and is designed as a private sanctuary that maintains a connection to the street while emphasizing a relationship with nature through carefully oriented living spaces. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira, with a team including Rand Pinson as team lead, and design team members Emily Kappes, Amy Su, and Quinten McElvain. Interior design was handled by Heirloom Modern, while Lillyvilla Gardens took charge of landscape architecture. Structural engineering was provided by Grummel Engineering. Photographs of the house were taken by Pablo Enriquez. The design reimagines the Portland vernacular, offering a contemporary take on residential architecture in the United States.
