Vyacheslav Akhunov's First Major Solo Institutional Exhibition Opens at Palazzo Franchetti, Venice
The inaugural collateral project of the Centre for Contemporary Arts Tashkent (CCA Tashkent), titled 'Instruments of the Mind', is being showcased at Palazzo Franchetti in Venice, honoring Vyacheslav Akhunov. This marks Akhunov's first significant solo institutional exhibition, highlighting five decades of his exploration into themes of political absurdity, memory, and erasure. His previous exhibitions took place at Palazzo Fortuny in 2016 and the Central Asia Pavilion in 2005, 2007, and 2013. Co-curator Sara Raza emphasized Akhunov's insightful non-objective artworks. Notable installations featured include 'Up Down' (1975/2026) and 'Triumphal Arch' (1979/2026). The exhibition will be open until 22 November, addressing issues pertinent to ongoing global conflicts, as noted by co-curator Gayane Umerova.
