Villa Weil in Oise Restored by Perrault and Lauriot-Prévost

The Villa Weil, a forgotten masterpiece of contemporary architecture designed by Jean Dubuisson in 1966 for real estate developer André Weil, has been restored and revived. Located near Senlis in the Oise department of France, the villa is part of the Domaine de Frapotel, a 85-hectare estate. In 2017, architect Dominique Perrault and designer Gaëlle Lauriot-Prévost purchased the property and initiated a sober restoration. In 2020, they founded the Association pour la conservation du domaine de Frapotel, and in 2024, established a fonds de dotation to ensure its sustainability. The villa, a 700-square-meter horizontal band with 'panneaux persiennés' and glass walls, features patios and terraces, and is noted for its radical modernity. Dubuisson, a Premier Grand Prix de Rome in 1945, was influenced by Le Corbusier's Modulor and Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion. The interior architecture was by Pierre Guariche, while decoration was by Serge Royaux, originally in Louis XVI style, later removed. The estate hosts residencies for young architects from the Prix Charles Abella and the 'Écoles invitées' program. The first Rencontres de Frapotel will take place on September 12, with public opening on September 19-20 for the European Heritage Days.
