Villa San Isidro in Ecuador: A Forest-Integrated Residence by MACCCONSTRUCCIONES / APLUS

In the middle of a forest in Ecuador, a new residence named Villa San Isidro has been completed in 2025, designed by the architecture firms MACCCONSTRUCCIONES and APLUS. The 822 m² house is defined by a balance between its components, with its forest location, orientation, and views serving as the pillars of its character. Breaking from traditional residential layouts, the design invites occupants to walk through the forest to reach the bedrooms, turning a daily routine into a sensory experience. The landscaping incorporates endemic vegetation, aromatic species, and ancient olive trees that accompany every step. The project was curated by Valentina Díaz, with Nicolás Macchiavello as lead architect. The design team included Gloria Martinez, José Paredes, Óscar Peñaherrera, and Miguel Vásquez, while the technical team comprised Santiago Silva and Freddy Caiza. Structural engineering and consulting were provided by Aceroplus, with additional engineering by Audelio Sánchez. Photographs were taken by Nicolás Provoste. Manufacturers involved in the project include Artyco, Axel Miguez, Graiman, Identra, Jessa Cia. Ltda., and Lighthaus. The house falls under the category of Houses and is located in Ecuador. The architects describe the design as gathering all elements of a contemporary house while reimagining the traditional layout to foster a deeper connection with the natural surroundings.
