exhibition · 2026-05-18

On 27 October 2026, the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Brasília will unveil 'Vik Muniz – A Olho Nu,' a comprehensive retrospective spanning nearly 40 years and featuring approximately 188 pieces, curated by Daniel Rangel. This exhibition follows earlier shows that drew in excess of 600,000 attendees, highlighting Muniz's investigation of image and material through a variety of photographs, sculptures, and objects. Notable works include 'Medusa Marinara', the 'Verso' series, 'Principia', and 'Colônias', developed in collaboration with Tal Danino at MIT. Born in São Paulo in 1961, Muniz has utilized diverse materials and has works in prominent collections. His social initiatives include collaborations with catadores at Jardim Gramacho, which inspired the Oscar-nominated film 'Lixo Extraordinário'. The exhibition will be open until 31 January 2027, with no admission fee.
