Vicario's 'Water Heritage' installation transforms faucets into symbolic architecture at Milan Design Week

Vicario presented 'Water Heritage,' an immersive installation by JoeVelluto at Milan Design Week's Brera Design District, exploring water's relationship with memory and material. The installation converts faucetry into symbolic architectural elements, creating a primordial landscape where visitors actively participate rather than just observe. Through scenography, sound, light, and reflective surfaces, the space fragments into islands emerging from water, with mirrors multiplying light and suspended fabrics veiling and revealing the environment. The Lumière collection pieces, designed by EMO, appear as natural springs within this setting, drawing inspiration from discreet 20th-century luxury with balanced forms, straight and curved lines, and black crystal inlays. One interactive moment invites visitors to toss a brass disk through a large oculus, leaving physical traces in the water and making them active participants. The installation positions design not as isolated objects but as part of a symbolic system where water becomes origin, memory, and experience.
