Versailles Marks 20 Years of Sofia Coppola's Marie-Antoinette with Petit Trianon Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-08-10

From September 22 to January 24, the Petit Trianon at the Château de Versailles will host a new exhibition commemorating the 20th anniversary of Sofia Coppola's 2006 film, Marie-Antoinette. Curated in collaboration with Coppola, the exhibit showcases costumes, accessories, storyboards, culinary trompe-l'œil, music, and behind-the-scenes photographs. Although the film, shot in 2005, received a negative reception at Cannes, it has left a lasting impact on the art scene. Co-organized by Laurent Salomé and Hélène Delalex, the exhibition aims to attract younger visitors. Highlights include Milena Canonero's costumes, a moodboard, and a letter from Coppola to historian Antonia Fraser. Additionally, a documentary by Eleanor Coppola will be available on MUBI starting November 6, with the film's 4K restoration debuting on November 25. The exhibition will conclude on January 27.
