Venice Film Festival Announces Orizzonti Short Film Competition Lineup

The Orizzonti Short Film Competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, scheduled from September 2 to 12, 2026, has announced its lineup, showcasing thirteen shorts making their world premieres in the race for the Orizzonti Award for Best Short Film, as determined by the jury. Additionally, two shorts will be presented out of competition. Out of 2,500 submissions, 205 were from Italy. The official screenings are set for September 10 and 11, 2026. The selected films hail from 13 different countries, including Italy, Hungary, the UK, USA, Australia, Chile, Colombia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, China, Ukraine, and Ireland. Noteworthy titles include "Angelo Azzurro," "Testzpalya," "Mothmama," and "Una Fortaleza." Alberto Barbera directs the Biennale di Venezia.
