Venice Film Festival Adds Surprise Documentary on Gaza Genocide by 'No Other Land' Directors

The 83rd Venice International Film Festival has added a surprise entry to its Official Selection: the film NAZA, directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, two of the directors behind the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land (2025). The film, produced by The Guardian and James Wilson (JW Films), with Jonathan Glazer (director of The Zone of Interest) as executive producer, will compete for the Golden Lion. Shot at night from the rooftops of Tel Aviv, NAZA exposes the procedures behind attacks on civilian populations in Gaza. The screening is scheduled for September 10 at 5:15 PM in the Sala Grande of the Palazzo del Cinema. The announcement comes as the festival is already packed with star-studded events, including the premiere of 'Búnker' starring Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz, also competing for the Golden Lion. The addition of NAZA underscores the festival's commitment to politically charged cinema, following the acclaim of No Other Land, which won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature in 2025.
