Venezuelan art exhibition pivots to earthquake relief fundraising

There's an exhibition called Venezuelan Cultural Diplomacy happening at Henrique Faria Fine Art in New York, featuring a wide range of artwork from Venezuelan artists of different generations and styles. This exhibit has also become a fundraising effort to help those affected by the tragic earthquakes on June 24, which resulted in at least 1,700 deaths and severe damage to around 58,000 buildings. One standout piece is Kiosko, a mobile installation by Eugenia Sucre and the New York-based group El Consulado NYC, showcasing contributions from 47 Venezuelan artists. The New York display includes over 200 small pieces, all under $2,500, with proceeds benefiting World Central Kitchen. Kiosko will be available until July 6, with online sales extending to July 10. This initiative takes place against the backdrop of ongoing issues in Venezuela, especially under Nicolás Maduro, who was arrested by U.S. forces in Caracas earlier this year on drug charges.
