VAUST Studio Designs OUNASS Stage in Dubai as a Hybrid Retail-Gallery Space

architecture-design · 2026-06-07

OUNASS Stage in Dubai, designed by VAUST Studio, is a 700 m² retail environment that merges gallery, installation, and boutique functions. Curated by Hadir Al Koshta, the project is slated for completion in 2026. Lead architect Joern Scheipers and design team member Pantelis Kyriakou, along with technical team member Annie Paxton, conceived the space around the concept of 'Alternate Abundance,' where luxury is expressed through atmosphere and material honesty rather than ornament. The design draws inspiration from Berlin's contemporary art scene and employs a brutalist and modernist architectural language, intentionally avoiding the polished neutrality typical of luxury retail. Photographs by Nicolas Quiniou document the project, which incorporates products from manufacturer Balzer. The space is categorized as Gallery, Interior Design, and Retail Interiors, located in the United Arab Emirates.
