Valeriya Amirova's Khayal Throw Blanket Draws Inspiration from Ancient Nabatean Culture

Ukrainian designer Valeriya Amirova has created the Khayal throw blanket through her brand Edere Editions. The design draws inspiration from desert landscapes and the ancient Nabatean civilization, known for constructing Petra in Jordan. Amirova referenced mineral formations, carved stones, and clay architecture from this historical context. The blanket features rhythmic triangular patterns traditionally painted on houses, translated into a knitted textile motif. Colors echo desert pigments, with the piece being part of the broader Persian Drop collection. Edere Editions describes the collection as creating a dialogue between ancient desert geometry and contemporary interior design, aiming for grounded, architectural textiles suited for calm living environments. The Khayal throw is crafted from eight-ply organic cotton and comes in several color combinations including Ivory Clay, Sand Citrus, and Oud Caravan Fire. Production occurs in limited quantities at a workshop located in Kyiv. The blanket measures 1850 by 1350 millimeters. This product was featured in Dezeen Showroom, a platform for brands to present new designs.
