Valerio Berruti Debuts 'Figli degli uomini' at Narni Città Teatro
From September 11 to 13, Italian artist Valerio Berruti showcased five two-meter-tall kneeling children, titled Figli degli uomini, in Narni as part of the Narni Città Teatro initiative curated by Antonella Liuzzi. This exhibition continues a series that started in 2011. Berruti's work often draws inspiration from real children, including his own, and he selects aluminum for its lightweight and durable properties. The figures are meant to symbolize the five continents and reflect humanity's vulnerability in times of conflict. Additionally, Berruti spoke about The Carousel at the Balloon Museum in New York, an adaptation of La Giostra di Nina, which includes eighteen birds and is three times the size of the original. The Narni display will feature the original animation accompanied by music from Ludovico Einaudi.
