Valentina Artone at Acappella, Naples

Valentina Artone presents a solo exhibition at Acappella in Naples. The show draws on a 17th-century Jesuit text and Herbert Allen Giles' writings about a mythical 'Fish' that lives in mirrors. The narrative recounts a legend from the Yellow Emperor's era when mirror people coexisted with humans until a war led to their imprisonment as reflections. The Fish is prophesied to awaken first, followed by other shapes that will cease imitation and break through glass barriers. In Yunnan, the myth speaks of a Tiger of the Mirror. The exhibition explores these themes of perception and reality through Artone's work.
