V&A announces 2027 exhibitions spanning South Asian art, punk, and ceramics

The Victoria and Albert Museum network has revealed its 2027 exhibition lineup across three sites in London and Dundee, Scotland. At the new V&A East Museum in Stratford, which opened in April 2026, 'South Asia Now: Fashion. Art. Design.' opens 24 April 2027, featuring over 200 works from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, including pieces by Sri Lankan designer Amesh Wijesekera. This follows the inaugural exhibition 'The Music is Black: A British Story' (until 3 January 2027). At the flagship South Kensington site, 'Punk to Pop' opens 13 March 2027, examining music, art, and fashion from 1972–1985, with around 300 objects from bands like Joy Division, Sex Pistols, and Wham!. 'Sculpture in Clay: British Ceramics 1985 to Now' opens 29 May 2027, featuring artists Jacqueline Poncelet, Antony Gormley, Edmund de Waal, Richard Deacon, and Clare Twomey. 'Chintz' opens 18 September 2027, exploring the South Indian fabric's legacy, drawing on the museum's collection and that of collector Karun Thakar. At V&A Dundee, 'Vivienne Westwood & Jewellery' opens 26 March 2027, focusing on the late designer's use of jewellery, created by Vivienne Westwood Ltd and produced by Nomad Exhibitions.
