UNO MÁS UNO Arquitectos Designs 120 m² T-237 House Around a Northern Courtyard

architecture-design · 2026-10-21

UNO MÁS UNO Arquitectos has completed Casa T-237, a single-storey dwelling of 1,290 sq ft (120 m²) whose rectangular volume sits on the southern edge of its plot and faces a courtyard to the north. Measuring 18 feet wide by 59 feet long (5.50 by 18 meters), the main volume holds the entire domestic programme on one level. Kitchen, dining room, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom follow one another as contiguous spaces, all opening northward. That arrangement ties each interior room to the courtyard, drawing in natural light and preserving visual continuity while keeping the building's formal complexity low. The architects describe the project as a precise answer to the basic conditions of dwelling, grounded in an elementary programmatic layout and a deliberate study of what the chosen material can express spatially. The house is conceived as a unique architectural piece defined by its rectangular geometry, with the northern courtyard acting as the device that organises its relationship to the exterior. By reducing the plan to a longitudinal, domestic-scale form, the design concentrates its effects on the sequence of open rooms and their connection to the outdoor space rather than on added formal gestures.
