University of Nottingham showcases chapati vending machine and other student designs

The University of Nottingham's Faculty of Engineering has presented a range of student projects from its Product Design and Manufacture programmes, including a chapati vending machine for corporate canteens in India. The machine, named Soi, was designed by Nidhi Bhatt to deliver fresh, hot chapatis on demand, 24/7, addressing the issue of chapatis becoming stale within hours. It features a touchscreen interface, NFC-controlled access, and IoT monitoring. Other projects include Infanti, a smart baby bottle washer by Zainab Almoosawi; Devio, an electric delivery moped by Rohan Brazel-Wood; Satelite, an eye-tracking surgical light by Emma Eatough; Apex Bench, an intelligent gym bench by Ryan Hopkins; Orbitl, an automated vinyl playback system by Edward Jennings; CapsuOne, a modular supplement capsule system by Andrew Khadouri; Somo, a collapsible jib for stop-motion animation by Tal Konyn; Fin, a wearable open-water monitoring system by Sebastiano Pratico; and C-PEM 001, a compact personal electric mobility device by William Pugsley. The projects were developed under the guidance of tutors including Alec Machin, Dan Garner, Simon Harrison, and Richard Tew. The school show is a partnership between Dezeen and the University of Nottingham.
