“Une femme à la mer” brings Florence Arthaud’s survival story to Théâtre Lucas-Paumier

The Théâtre Lucas-Paumier is presenting “Une femme à la mer”, a theatrical adaptation of Florence Arthaud’s account “Cette nuit la mer est noire”. The play recounts the harrowing night in October 2011 when Arthaud, the renowned French sailor, fell overboard from her boat while sailing alone, not during a race. Plunged into twelve-degree water fifteen nautical miles from shore with no way to call for help, she fought for survival over many hours. The production features Nathalie Lucas in a solo performance, praised by critics for her “magistrale” portrayal that avoids imitation. Reviews from La Provence, Le Parisien, Coup de théâtre, Théâtre passion, and Coup d’Œil highlight the intensity of the staging and Lucas’s extraordinary stage presence.
