Un-Discipline: Blak Works at Flinders University Museum of Art, South Australia

The Flinders University Museum of Art in South Australia is hosting an exhibition titled Un-Discipline: Blak works, which will take place from 20 July to 18 September 2026. This exhibition features pieces that challenge traditional boundaries and fixed classifications across various disciplines, materials, and techniques. It prompts a reevaluation of how land is viewed as property, knowledge is categorized, culture is represented, and individuals are defined by race, gender, and citizenship. The showcased works, including Return to Sender #3, 2021, an inkjet print by Karla Dickens (Wiradjuri, b.1967, Sydney, New South Wales), advocate for an understanding of 'un-discipline' as transcending singular, hierarchical, or externally imposed orders. This unique printer's proof 1/1, measuring 129.8 × 91.6cm, was gifted by Andrew Baker through the Australian Government's Cultural Gifts Program in 2024 and is part of the Flinders University Museum of Art collection, accession number 6167.001—009, with thanks to the artist and the museum.
