UK PM Burnham to Lobby Trump on Ukraine Patriot Missiles in September

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced plans to travel to the US in September to lobby President Donald Trump to allow Ukraine access to Patriot air defence missile stocks. Speaking in Kyiv on Monday evening, Burnham said he expects to attend the UN General Assembly meeting in New York, marking his first US trip since becoming premier. The visit aims to secure a multi-nation deal to provide Ukraine with vital interceptors ahead of winter, when Russia is expected to intensify attacks on energy infrastructure. Burnham's comments followed his first international visit to Kyiv, where he chaired a meeting of Ukraine's allies and held bilateral talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky has repeatedly urged European nations and the US to help replenish Ukraine's interceptor stocks, as the country's low supply hampers its ability to shoot down Russian cruise and ballistic missiles. Burnham expressed optimism that Ukraine's current struggles are 'fixable'.
