UAE University students showcase sustainable architecture projects
Students from the Architectural Engineering program at United Arab Emirates University recently showcased various projects emphasizing sustainability and cultural heritage. The presentations were part of the Arch 590 Capstone Engineering Design Project and the Arch 450 Integrated Building Design Studio courses. Noteworthy projects included the Athar coastal cultural institute in Dubai, a retrofitted office tower in Abu Dhabi, and a solar-powered EV charging station with an attached community center. Faculty members Nasma Hannawi and Omar Al Khatib provided guidance, as their curriculum emphasizes the intersection of architecture, engineering, and environmental design, highlighted by the winning Emirates Biotech Headquarters project.
