TypeType Foundry Unveils Rocket Type System with WNTL and Bowtie

architecture-design · 2026-09-21

TypeType Foundry has developed a dual-family typeface for Rocket, merging the geometric sans WNTL with the transitional serif Bowtie. WNTL adapts TT Commons™ Pro for enhanced accessibility, whereas Bowtie modifies TT Livret, featuring pronounced serifs and significant contrast. This unified design showcases vibrant scarlet backgrounds paired with soft pink highlights. Technical director Yuri Nakonechny and programmer Victor Rubenko focused on achieving pixel-perfect clarity for digital platforms. WNTL Text is utilized for mortgage charts, while Bowtie Display is designated for headlines. This design serves as a tribute to Nick Gilbert, the founder's deceased son, with WNTL embodying his motto "What’s Not To Like" and Bowtie symbolizing his neckwear. It strikes a balance between heartfelt homage and practical functionality.
