Twin timber gateways mark entrance to open-air architectural park in Russia's Kostroma Region

CUBE+ Creative Collective has completed 'Propylaea Protivo Stoyanie' (Counter-Standing), a wooden landscape structure along the Galich Zaōzerye ecological trail in Russia's Kostroma Region. Finished in 2025 as part of the Summer Drevolution'25 architectural workshop, the installation marks the entrance to an open-air architectural park. The twin timber gateways frame views between forest and field, incorporating viewfinders, information panels, and benches. A contemporary reinterpretation of a traditional 'frog's foot' carved motif from historic Galich window frames adorns the vertical timber surfaces. The untreated wood is left to weather naturally. Lead designers Elizaveta Ross and Tatyana Gudkova led the team, with consultant Nikolay Belousov.
