Twin Artists Alicya and Maria Elena Ricciuto Explore Memory and Dwelling at MA 間 Project

The MA 間 Project in Perugia hosts 'Le dita degli scrigni', a two-person exhibition by twin artists Alicya and Maria Elena Ricciuto (born 1997, Isernia), curated by Laura Catini. Running from May 17 to 31, 2026, the show investigates memory, domesticity, and the concept of dwelling as a continuous relationship with one's origins. Drawing on philosophical references from Martin Heidegger, Gaston Bachelard, Hermann Hesse, and Maurice Halbwachs, the artists present works that blend individual and shared memory. Maria Elena focuses on the house as a mental space, using light, blankets, and curtains to evoke maternal care and perception. Alicya engages with nature and travel, treating landscape as an identity-forming element through actions like blackberry picking. The title 'Le dita degli scrigni' (Fingers of the Caskets) suggests preservation and reactivation of memory. Works include embroidery, crochet, video, and mixed media, with natural materials like wool, branches, and lichen from Frosolone.
