Twelve Tanks and Dripping Aqueduct Visualize Water Loss at Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Pavilion

Between July 17 and 30, 2026, the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona will showcase a temporary installation called 'Plou Prou?', designed by Cierto Estudio, h3o architects, and Metrònom. Selected through the Open Call for the Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture, this installation examines the relationship between architecture, water, and climate issues. It includes twelve elevated tanks that hold over 12,000 liters of groundwater, reflecting the expected evaporation from the main pool during the event. A temporary aqueduct allows water to drip back into the pool, highlighting evaporation. The pavilion's outer wall features six panels that reveal Montjuïc's water history when wet. The project connects the pavilion to Barcelona's hidden water systems and will also host a variety of public programs like performances and discussions.
