Trump-Era Broadcast Spectacles Fail to Draw Audiences, From SBA Pitch Show to Trump TV
On Tuesday, the Million Dollar Pitch Competition was broadcasted by the US Small Business Administration, showcasing five entrepreneurs who presented their ideas to judges Grant Cardone, Nicki Minaj, and Joe Gebbia for a chance to win a $1 million prize from Clover Network. The event, hosted by Dean Cain, featured a segment with Mehmet Oz and an animated DNA strand. Minaj inquired about "cowgirls" from CEO Marshall Sasse during his presentation. Brief clips from the Oval Office displayed participants with Donald Trump, who told the judges, "You're fired." The YouTube stream attracted over 60,000 views, receiving criticism on X. Other shows, including a Trump TV channel and Robert F. Kennedy's cooking series, faced challenges. UFC Freedom 250 in June achieved a viewership record but cost UFC $30 million.
