Tromarama's 'Turn On #2' Blankets Times Square Billboards

exhibition · 2026-07-14

Indonesian art collective Tromarama, founded in 2006 by Febie Babyrose, Ruddy Hatumena, and Herbert Hans, will project their video 'Turn On #2' across over 90 electronic billboards in New York's Times Square nightly from 11:57 p.m. to midnight through July 31, 2026. The work is part of the Times Square Arts initiative Midnight Moment and emerges from a partnership with the Kitchen, which recently hosted the collective's first U.S. institutional exhibition 'Upon a Machine.' The video features electric fans blowing on changing familiar scenes, questioning reality, memory, and identity. Tromarama is represented by Kiang Malingue, Hong Kong.
