Tree of Light by Raza Zahid Atelier Illuminates SOS Children’s Village in Lahore
Tree of Light, a lighting installation by Raza Zahid Atelier, has been unveiled at SOS Children’s Village in Lahore, Pakistan. This creation showcases a central trunk adorned with tapering metal branches that support glowing globes, inspired by pentagonal geometry. A Ziarat white marble platform provides a foundation and seating area, seamlessly linking indoor educational activities with the outdoor environment for children to read, gather, and play. Constructed from bent galvanized metal pipes, it features thirty weather-resistant recycled opal polycarbonate globes equipped with RGB LED lighting managed by a DMX system. The installation casts a warm glow on typical evenings and shifts colors during festive occasions. Designed as a modular piece, it can be modified while preserving its essence. The project was submitted via designboom’s DIY feature and edited by Christina Vergopoulou.
