Tramps Gallery Show in London Pairs Al Jazeera Gaza Footage with Rare Lucio Fontana Sculpture
"An Exhibition as Record" is currently on view at Tramps gallery in London until 12 December. This non-commercial exhibition, curated by founder Parinaz Mogadassi, showcases four components in conjunction with Frieze week. One element features a video from a mock press conference held by children outside al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City on 7 November 2023, where a young boy made a plea for safety. The exhibition also includes Lucio Fontana's 1941 sculpture, Nudo femminile sdraiato, alongside a 2023 photograph by Mohammed Salem depicting Inas Abu Maamar with her deceased niece, Saly. Additionally, there is a photographic installation by Federico Vespignani showcasing Israeli soldiers’ dating profiles. This context is framed by Hamas's attack on 7 October 2023, which resulted in over 1,200 Israeli deaths and nearly 73,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza.
