Toulouse School of Architecture renovation finally funded

architecture-design · 2026-06-29

After two decades of warnings from faculty about the deteriorating state of the École d'architecture de Toulouse, designed by Georges Candilis in the 1970s under Team Ten's social utopian aesthetic principles, the renovation and expansion project has secured full funding. Architect Pierre-Louis Faloci, selected in 2020 through a design competition, will lead the work. Preparatory construction began in May 2026, with a total budget of €28 million financed by the Région, the State, the Département, and the City of Toulouse. The project includes rehabilitation of existing buildings, redevelopment of outdoor spaces, and a 5,600 m² extension. The first phase is scheduled for delivery in spring 2029.
