Tomás Saraceno's 'Ancestral Futures' Opens at Haus der Kunst, Munich

From July 17, 2026, to February 7, 2027, the Haus der Kunst in Munich will host 'Tomás Saraceno in Collaboration: Ancestral Futures.' This exhibition showcases Saraceno's research initiatives, Aerocene and Arachnophilia, alongside a new permanent land artwork titled 'El Santuario del Agua,' created in partnership with Indigenous groups in Argentina's Salinas Grandes. Launched in 2015, Aerocene promotes emission-free flight and reflects on the 2020 'Aerocene Pacha' balloon journey, which achieved 32 world records. Arachnophilia investigates the role of spiders as partners in artistic understanding. The Sanctuary of Water aims to safeguard saltwater ecosystems from lithium extraction. The exhibition also features 'Museo Aero Solar' (2022) and includes the Community Garden Ostwiese and 'Cloud Cities: Species of Spaces' (2023–2026). Public workshops will invite attendees to help build elements for Museo Aero Solar.
