Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell to Star in Jamie Lloyd's 'Much Ado About Nothing' on Broadway

Jamie Lloyd's revival of William Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing,' starring Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell, will open at the Winter Garden Theatre in New York this autumn following a sellout London run. The production features choreography by Olivier Award-winning movement director Fabian Aloise, a soundtrack of nostalgic club anthems performed live by Mason Alexander Park, and a design marked by pink confetti and a giant hanging heart. Hiddleston and Atwell, friends since drama school auditions in the early 2000s, play Benedick and Beatrice, whose witty sparring gives way to love. Lloyd conceived the show during a period of euphoria after meeting his partner, actor and dancer Brandon LaVar, while staging 'Sunset Boulevard.' Rehearsals began on New Year's Eve, with Atwell returning to the stage five months after giving birth to her daughter, supported by Lloyd's accommodations such as a nursing room and adjusted hours. The Broadway run marks Atwell's debut and Hiddleston's return to the Great White Way, where he last appeared in Lloyd's 2019 production of Harold Pinter's 'Betrayal.'
