Tom Dixon Unveils 'Splash' Glassware Collection for Nude

British designer Tom Dixon has launched his first collaboration with Nude, the contemporary brand of Turkish glassware producer Şişecam, creating a new collection named 'Splash'. The collection features wine, cocktail, highball, and lowball glasses, each distinguished by a signature ripple detail at the base, inspired by patterns made by water on tables and outdoors. Dixon, known for his previous glassware designs inspired by game pucks and lab equipment, explains that the concentric rings echo the ripples when a raindrop hits a puddle or the last drop of wine is poured, serving as both a structural and decorative device. The ripple also mirrors the glassblowing process, acknowledging the liquid state of molten glass during manufacturing. Achieving the thin, delicate proportions required significant technical expertise, with Nude's team noting the challenge of creating a bold texture while maintaining lightness. Dixon, who recently tried glassblowing at a residency at Soneva in the Maldives, relished the new challenge, contrasting it with his early welded metal creations. The collection is designed to enhance the sensory experience of drinking, elevating everyday moments. Dixon suggests serving something fizzy, like champagne or a gin and tonic. The 'Splash' collection will be available worldwide at Nude Glass, with notifications for when it is back in stock.
