Tintoret's 'La Création des animaux' to Show at Musée Jacquemart-André in 2026

exhibition · 2026-09-14

From September 11, 2026, to January 24, 2027, the Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris will present Tintoretto's artwork 'La Création des animaux.' This piece, created between 1550 and 1553 for the Scuola della Trinità in Venice, is part of a series that originally included five scenes, with the remainder now housed at the Uffizi and Gallerie dell'Accademia. In 2024–2025, all but one of these works will be displayed together at the Accademia. Known as Jacomo Robusti, Tintoretto produced approximately 650 paintings, mainly in Venice, and his workshop featured family members. His 'non finito' technique is notable, and this particular painting depicts the fifth day of Creation, showcasing a white unicorn, inspired by Pliny's Natural History. This exhibition offers a unique chance to see this significant masterpiece.
