Tidsmaskinen After-School Center by BBP Arkitekter Blends Old and New
BBP Arkitekter has completed the Tidsmaskinen (Time Machine) after-school activity center in Amager, Denmark, a 1,100 m² project that juxtaposes a 1918 villa with a new tower and greenhouse. The villa, originally built for the school director, is now complemented by a contemporary tower that references the site's architectural heritage while introducing a new typology. The garden design incorporates small hills into the otherwise flat landscape of Amager, encouraging outdoor play. Lead architect Ebbe Wæhrens oversaw the project, completed in 2021. Photographs by Jens Markus Lindhe. Materials include Randers Tegl bricks.
